I am going to try to get back into that habit so I can write more here, but for now, I am simply going to leave you with a poem today. This one is called The Sweet Embrace of a Silent Night.
Some background. About a year ago, I decided to start a Facebook group called The Dreamer's Door, with one of my friends. There we were supposed to try to get inspired to write more. Adding some of our friends, talking about how we would do it, we decided to post a few prompts for people to do. One of them was to write a poem with the title "The Sweet Embrace of a Silent Night." We had only two responses, mine and a friend named Nathaniel. I wish I would have saved his, but I didn't. :( I do remember his was a World War 2 theme.
Below is what I came up with. It feels sad, and inspiring to me. Oddly enough it is the same feeling I get when I think about that failed attempt at growing and sharing people's talents.
On the name of the group, I also tried a group over here on G+ but had even less of a response. So I took the name, which I had come up with, and started this blog. I hope you enjoy the poem. And as always, thanks for reading.
The
Sweet Embrace of a Silent Night.
I go into the dark,
My head held high,
I know I can face this dark,
It will be hard,
The fight will be long,
But I will rise at the dawn,
With or without you.
The night will hold me still,
It will whisper to me,
Fill my heart with coldness,
Bring to the front the memories,
I will feel the silence cut me,
But I will rise at the dawn,
With or without you.
You had the chance to come,
Walk this dark road with me,
But the love had died,
As part of my soul did that day.
I will walk into the darkness,
The tears may stain my eyes,
But I will rise at the dawn.
With or without you.
I will rise.
I go into the dark,
My head held high,
I know I can face this dark,
It will be hard,
The fight will be long,
But I will rise at the dawn,
With or without you.
The night will hold me still,
It will whisper to me,
Fill my heart with coldness,
Bring to the front the memories,
I will feel the silence cut me,
But I will rise at the dawn,
With or without you.
You had the chance to come,
Walk this dark road with me,
But the love had died,
As part of my soul did that day.
I will walk into the darkness,
The tears may stain my eyes,
But I will rise at the dawn.
With or without you.
I will rise.
