"For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile."Romans 1:16
In a world that often demands we blend in, the Apostle Paul makes a bold and counter-cultural declaration. He refuses to be ashamed of the Gospel. To many in the first century, the message of a crucified Savior seemed like weakness or foolishness. Yet, Paul saw it for what it truly is: the very power of God.
The word used for power here is the Greek word dunamis, from which we get our word "dynamite." It isn't just a nice sentiment or a set of moral guidelines. The Gospel is an active, explosive force capable of shattering the chains of sin and transforming a human heart from the inside out. It is the only thing on earth that can truly bridge the gap between a holy God and a broken humanity.
Being "unashamed" doesn't mean we have to be loud or argumentative. It means we live with a quiet, firm confidence that the message of Jesus is the world’s only hope. Whether you are in a boardroom, a classroom, or at your kitchen table, you carry the most potent force in existence.
Today, remember that the Gospel is not something you have to protect or hide. It is something that sustains you. When we lean into its power, we find the courage to live authentically, knowing that the grace of Christ is available to everyone who believes.
Heavenly Father,Thank You for the life-changing power of the Gospel. Forgive me for the times I have been silent or hesitant to share Your truth. Fill me with the same confidence Paul had, so that I may live unashamed of Jesus. Let Your power work through me today to bring light to those around me. In Jesus' name,Amen.
