“So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all His work that He had done in creation.”Genesis 2:3
God wasn’t tired when He rested. He wasn’t worn out or overwhelmed. He rested to teach us something, something we tend to forget in a world that glorifies constant motion.
Rest is not a reward for finishing everything. Rest is not a sign of weakness. Rest is not optional.
Rest is holy.
When God blessed the seventh day, He wove rest into the rhythm of creation itself. Before sin entered the world, before stress or sorrow existed, rest was already part of the design. That means rest isn’t a response to brokenness, it’s a gift meant for wholeness.
Learning to rest is learning to trust. It’s choosing to believe that the world keeps turning even when we stop. It’s releasing the illusion that everything depends on us. It’s remembering that God is the One who sustains all things.
When we rest, we imitate our Creator. We step into the blessing He placed on the seventh day. We acknowledge that our identity is not built on productivity but on being His.
Today, let your rest be worship. Pause. Breathe. Step back. Let your stillness declare that God is enough, and that you are held.
Father, Thank You for blessing rest and calling it holy. Teach me to slow down, to release what I’m carrying, and to trust that You hold all things together. Help me enter the kind of rest that reminds my heart You are God and I am Yours. Let my stillness become worship, and let Your peace settle over every part of me. Amen.
